QS-21

Catalog Number ACM141256044-1
CAS 141256-04-4
Structure
Description QS-21 is an immunostimulating saponin that can be used as an effective vaccine adjuvant. QS-21 stimulates Th2 humoral and Th1 cell-mediated immune responses by acting on antigen-presenting cells (APCs) and T cells. QS-21 activates the NLRP3 inflammasome and subsequently releases caspase-1-dependent cytokines, IL-1β and IL-18.

In Vivo Studies Studies on mouse APCs (DCs and macrophages) indicate that QS-21 is an activator of the NLRP3 inflammasome and leads to the subsequent release of caspase-1-dependent proinflammatory cytokines I1-1β/I1-18, thereby promoting Th 17 cells mature or drive INF-γ-mediated Th1 responses, respectively.
